The Story Behind Cook's

Hi there—thank you so much for being here. I’m Rayna Dye (Cook), the founder, chef, and heart behind Cook’s Condiments.

Cook’s didn’t start out as a low-sodium spice company. In the beginning, I was simply a chef who loved creating bold, flavorful blends. I made a couple of low-sodium seasonings early on—one on my own and one alongside my mom—without realizing how important those blends would eventually become.

Before Cook’s really took shape, I spent years working in restaurants, honing my craft, learning how flavors work together, and finding my voice as a chef. Cooking has always been how I show love, creativity, and care—it’s where I feel most at home.

In 2016, I met my husband, and we were married in 2017. At the time, he was already living with kidney disease, but it was being managed fairly well, and life felt good. We were building our life together, gathering around the table, and still finding joy in food.

 

Then in 2018, after a doctor’s visit, everything changed. We learned that his kidney disease had progressed from Stage 3 to Stage 5 renal failure. Suddenly, sodium wasn’t just something to be mindful of—it became critical. As the primary cook in our home and a trained chef, I had to completely rethink how I cooked. I leaned hard into herbs, spices, citrus, and aromatics to keep our meals full of flavor while supporting his health.

As I was adjusting at home, I started noticing something bigger. The grocery store shelves were full of high-sodium seasonings or bland, restrictive options that took the joy out of cooking—especially for people managing kidney disease, heart health, or anyone needing to cut back on salt.

By the time my husband received his kidney transplant in 2019, the direction of Cook’s had already started to shift. What began as a personal need turned into a clear purpose.

​

That’s when Cook’s truly became a chef-crafted, low-sodium spice company, built on one simple belief:

​

  • Flavor should never be the sacrifice.

  • Every blend I create is meant to help you cook with confidence—big flavor, less salt, no fillers, no shortcuts. My goal is to make cooking easier, more joyful, and more accessible for people who often feel overlooked by the food industry.

 

I truly believe this:


If you want to see change, sometimes you have to be it.

 

When I’m not in the kitchen creating new blends, I’m a wife, a mom, a gardener, and someone who deeply values time with family and friends. You’ll usually find me laughing, traveling, working in my garden, or heading out on a family camping trip.
